I believe that Jesus of Nazareth is God incarnate.[1] He is fully God and fully man; two natures but only one person.[2] He has eternally existed as the second person of the Trinity.[3] When he took on flesh he became fully human as well as fully divine, and this is how he now forever exists.[4]

I believe that Jesus is the Messiah from the line of David.[5] He was born of the virgin Mary and fulfilled all that was written about the Messiah in the Jewish Scriptures.[6] He came proclaiming the message of the Kingdom of God through miracles, exorcisms, and parables.[7]  His message was shown to be true through his death, burial, and resurrection.

I believe that Jesus lived a perfect and sinless life.[8] He never gave into temptation, though he was tempted in every way that we are tempted.[9] He lived the righteous life that humans were meant to live.[10] He lived a life pleasing to the Heavenly Father. All that he accomplished was through the power of the Holy Spirit.[11]

I believe that he was unjustly beaten and killed by both the Romans and the Jews.[12] As he was flogged and crucified he bore the sins of each human, taking our due penalty.[13] As he did this he stood in our place, both as our substitute and the only one who could finally defeat sin, death and Satan, and reconcile us to the Father.[14] His selfless sacrifice gives us the example of selfless love and sacrifice which all should follow.[15]

I believe that he did not stay in the grave, but rose triumphantly three days later.[16] His raising from the dead gives us the promise of a new life.[17] His resurrection shows the Father was pleased; it causes us to be declared justified.[18] After he rose from the dead he bore witness to his disciples and many others, and after forty days he ascended into Heaven where he currently sits at the right hand of God interceding for us.[19] After his ascension he sent the Holy Spirit so that we could understand his teachings and live in the power of the resurrection.[20]

I believe that Jesus will come again to consummate his reign as Eternal Lord and Judge over creation.[21] This is the very world he made.[22] He will fill the throne which was abandoned by Adam and Eve, showing us how to rightly exercise dominion over this world. [23]

Praise God for Jesus Christ who is the incarnate deity! He defeated sin and death, and reigns forevermore. He is worthy of all our honor and praise! Let us go forth and proclaim the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, in order that others may come to know him and sing his praises too.

Amen.
