James Naismith and Basketball’s Inerrant Beauty

Basketball’s roots are traced to a Canadian who loved God, loved people, and fitness. Yesterday on my run (7.6ish: longest in a few months!), the poetry of basketball ran through my head. And as I read this article this morning, I saw just how deeply rooted that beauty was. Professional sports may have a lot of corruption and greed, colleges may take advantage of their athletes, and high school’s might promote elitism for top performers, but none of this can take away the beauty of basketball.
